Westmont of La Mesa Ribbon Cutting

On Wednesday, October 16th the red carpet was rolled out and the music played as guests arrived at Westmont of La Mesa. Upon entering, flutes of champagne were available to guests as they began the celebration of this 130,000 square foot, three story retirement community. Westmont of La Mesa will house 150 residents and provide both independent living and assisting living, including memory care. The room was filled with laughter and pleasant chatter, as the 400 guests enjoyed themselves and the delicious hors d’oeuvres prepared by Natasha, the Culinary Director and her staff. The platters of crab claws, shrimp, and other delectable items were devoured by the eager crowd. David Armour, the Executive Director of Westmont of La Mesa did the official welcome for the evening’s festivities. He introduced several people to address the crowd, including President, Andy Plant who welcomed everyone to the grand opening of this beautiful new facility in La Mesa. After the “official” ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening, certificates of recognition were presented by: La Mesa Mayor, Mark Arpostathis, Tori Floyd representing Supervisor Dianne Jacob, and Chamber President & CEO, Mary England presenting certificates from Congressman Duncan Hunter and the Chamber of Commerce. When leaving, guests were able to pick up a gift beautifully wrapped from Westmont of La Mesa to commemorate the evening.

This development located at 9000 Murray Drive is a perfect example of a private and public partnership. The City of La Mesa is allowing Westmont to lease the property for 55 years. The total of the fixed rent paid to the city over the 55-year term of the ground lease is estimated at $50 million. The city plans to allocate 20 percent of the annual rent payment toward the cost of maintaining Briercrest Park, the public park adjacent to the project.

Make sure you find the time to visit Westmont of La Mesa and see why people are raving about this new development. For tours of the facility or information call 858-257-4861.
