La Mesa Veterans Club Ribbon Cutting 2024

The staff and members of the La Mesa Veterans Club went all out to welcome chamber members, auxiliary members, post members and friends on Monday, June 17th. The room was beautifully decorated with red, white and blue balloons and decorated tables properly placed to accommodate the crowd. This group of dedicated folks and this building have been known as the American Legion sitting at 8118 University Avenue. This new name reflects the inclusion of all who have served and their efforts to continue to support projects such as Wreaths Across America, La Mesa Flag Day Parade, they place flags on graves of veterans each Memorial Day, and work with youth through American Legion baseball and other projects.

Debra Childers, leader of Feeding the Flock San Diego, hosted the food that served fabulous specially barbecued pork, along with barbecue beef sliders and other finger food. People did keep coming back for that pork!  The bartender Roz was outstanding, and her service was amazing! Tony Sodi had wonderful remarks to inform the crowd about the Post and all that they do. The Chamber presented Tony with his La Mesa Chamber membership plaque after the “official” ribbon cutting and a good time was had by all!
