The La Mesa Chamber of Commerce held the first breakfast meeting of the year on Wednesday, February 20th. There was a “full house” at this breakfast meeting as people wanted to hear and/or meet our popular speaker, Supervisor Dianne Jacob. Supervisor Jacob was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 1992. The Supervisor represents more than 620,000 residents of District 2 and has the distinction of holding elected office longer than anyone in San Diego County government history. The Supervisor shared information on the county taking the lead on partnering on affordable housing and creating public/private partnerships to assist with building permits to help build the housing units needed within the county. She explained that making it easy to build accessory dwelling units is a good step forward to assist in creating housing within the county. She also shared information on assisting the 300,000 care givers as they help their family members with Alzheimer’s. This disease is the third highest cause of death as our senior population ages. Supervisor Jacob was engaging and shared other statistics and the goal of the Board of Supervisors as they continue to lead the county and serve their constituents.
The sponsor of this breakfast meeting was Carl Burgers Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM World, who are constant supporters of the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce and the community. General Manager, Kyle Nyswonger and his team attended and are always involved in the breakfast series throughout the year. Joe Flaherty and his competent team served a hearty breakfast of: Eggs Benedict, bacon, sausage, potatoes, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice and more! Everyone had a great time and the prizes flowed with Jim Butcher being one of the luckiest winners of the morning!
