About La Mesa

"Jewel of the Hills"

The City of La Mesa has been known as the “Jewel of the Hills” since its early beginnings. More than 55,000 people now call this desirable city their home. Local merchants and business owners bask in year-round sunshine as they showcase their goods and services to the consumer. This unique business community boasts many streets of indoor and outdoor dining, the iconic Grossmont Center regional mall, Fletcher Parkway and Lake Murray Boulevard. These areas offer a variety of restaurants, big box and family-owned retail stores for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Concerts at Harry Griffen Park

On selected dates during June-August, the Sundays at Six concert series can be enjoyed at the Amphitheater at Harry Griffen Park in La Mesa by Grossmont High School. Check the City of La Mesa website for more information.

Farmers Market

The La Mesa Village Farmers’ Market has become a tradition on Friday afternoons in the Allison Avenue parking lot east of Spring Street. Between 2 – 6 p.m. (or 1 – 5 p.m. in the winter), rain or shine, shoppers can select from a large selection of items. Next Friday, stop by the La Mesa Farmers’ Market and grab some certified farm grown products to spice up your weekend! The Farmers Market is closed on the Friday after Thanksgiving and the Friday during Oktoberfest.

Flag Day Parade

This annual parade has the route going along La Mesa Boulevard through the La Mesa Village (just east of Spring Street.) Families bring lawn chairs and enjoy watching the floats, clowns, bands, local officials and much more on this May event. Check the City of La Mesa website for more information.

Salute to Local Heroes

The La Mesa Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor 7 local heroes annually and is grateful to these men and women who protect, serve, and keep our community safe. It is only befitting that this annual event should honor those that give so much to so many. Each year, valiant men and women from the following are honored: La Mesa Police Department, Heartland Fire and Rescue, American Medical Response, and the La Mesa Police Department Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol.

Spring Fling & Summer Bash Business Expos

The La Mesa Chamber’s unique and fun-filled Business Expos, which happen twice a year, allow guests to enjoy 40-50 Chamber member vendor tables to meet our members, learn about their goods and services, and enter into numerous drawings for valuable prizes. Guests can win gift cards, as well as gift baskets laden with remarkable gift items. Event tickets include delicious food provided by many local restaurants.

Taste of La Mesa

Folks from all over the region gather to “eat their heart out” at this fun-filled annual event in June. This event has quickly grown in popularity and size during the past few years and is a highly-anticipated annual activity for locals as well as regional attendees. The La Mesa Chamber is proud to produce this event that highlights many local restaurants and food providers, allowing them to showcase specialty dishes to the hungry public.
