On May 17th the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce welcomed members to a ribbon cutting and mixer held at one of the newest additions to the La Mesa restaurant scene, Casa Gabriela, located at 8384 La Mesa Boulevard. This restaurant is in the same location that used to be Bo-beau kitchen+garden Restaurant. This site has been transformed into an authentic Mexican eatery and cocktail bar called Casa Gabriela. Chef Gabriela Lopez has partnered with San Diego’s own restaurant corporation, the Cohn Restaurant Group to bring this new eatery to La Mesa. Chef Gabby creates Mexican dishes made with passed-down recipes from her family. She also uses her family recipes from Guadalajara infused with her cosmopolitan upbringing in Tijuana, that bring unique flavors to her recipes and dishes.
The crowd feasted on selections from the menu which included freshly prepared guacamole served to the brim in a huge molcajete, empanadas, bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos, chips, dip and more. The patio was filled with laughter and conversation as people connected and exchanged business cards. Enjoyable music was provided by Flamenco guitarist, Miles Moynier that added to the ambience of the evening.
We were happy to have members of the Cohn family join us, as well as Chef Debra Scott attend for this special occasion. The Chamber gave away free prizes to lucky winners and a good time was had by all. Hanna Kim of Focuscom Inc, our social media partner was there to make sure the happy smiles were part of our Instagram coverage. Photos to capture the evening were taken by our photographer, Sandy Small. We encourage you to visit Casa Gabriela at 8384 La Mesa Boulevard to enjoy a unique dining experience, whether you dine inside or outside on the patio. You’ll be glad you did!
