The Chamber was invited to meet Fiona Ma, California’s 34th State Treasurer last week for coffee. She was in La Mesa for a short visit. Treasurer Ma is a proven leader as the state’s primary banker. As Treasurer her office worked quickly to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic – offering resources to small businesses and expanding access to healthcare facilities. It was refreshing to speak to an elected official that has a strong background in the office that they hold. She is a CPA and has served in other elected offices in the past. We discussed funding available to businesses within the State of California and other activities that can assist local businesses.
