No diets were allowed on Monday, August 30th as guests feverishly waited to enter the Pacific Ballroom at the Town and Country Hotel for the 12th Annual “Taste of San Diego – East.” The pandemic did not dampen the spirit of our guests or our fabulous food vendors/restaurateurs. The delight of the attendees was obvious, as they grazed from table to table sampling the signature dishes prepared with perfection by the chefs and their staff. This year sponsors had an added benefit, the ability to enter the ballroom at 4:30 p.m. prior to other ticketholders and had reserved seating. Sponsors were escorted to their tables by the Sponsor Liaison and then were ready to venture to the food stations and begin their feast. At 5:00 p.m. the VIP ticket holders joined the ballroom and the fun continued. As the doors opened, the crowd rushed into the ballroom to the aroma of freshly grilled barbecue items, fresh pulled pork, platters of braised chicken, seasoned chicken with an array of sauces, ice cream macarons in a variety of flavors, delectable mini desserts and more! As the song says, “Oh, What a Night!” This would be a night to remember!
Many of the crowd took a break before continuing on their feasting journey and talked with friends, enjoyed beverages from the bar, visited the silent auction or just hung out before beginning round two or three of samplings. This year has been difficult for our restaurants and food vendors, so we are especially grateful for their participation.
