The weather was perfect on Saturday, June 13th as 200 members of the community came out to be a part of the “Inspirational Art Project” for the fencing surrounding the Randall Lamb building. Keri Douglas, of Randall Lamb organized this fabulous community art project and had 20 volunteers in “force” to assist, including a large group from La Mesa Strong. Keri and the leadership of Randall Lamb were so inspired by the artwork throughout the city, they wanted to encourage the community to paint messages on boards to be hung on the fence around their building. Over 115 posters were painted with community messages and now surround the building – take a look! Keri organized this event with the support of La Mesa Strong, the Darcy Family, youth groups and Dixie Line. Keri is especially grateful to Nadia of Pink Rose Café who helped her coordinate the entire event. Antonio Gonsalez did the morning set-up to begin the day. The hungry attendees were fed pizza donated by SurfRider, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza, Pizza Hut, sipped beverages donated by Pepsi, La Mesa Village Association and the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce. Adding to these beverages, Jimmy Long of La Mesa Strong brought oranges from his trees and had his family members Isaac and Lamar squeeze oranges and serve fresh orange juice all day long. Marvin of La Mesa Wine & Spirits donated ice, power and a water cooler to help the cause. Volunteers were entertained by San Diego’s legendary DJ, Lee Reynolds and photos were taken by photographer, Ryeo Lee.
