The La Mesa Chamber of Commerce is proud to have created a partnership with Barnes & Noble at Grossmont Center to invite the public to purchase a book that will be donated to the Chamber’s annual “La Mesa Military Families Holiday Project.” This holiday project allows the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce to gather new toys, diapers and other items for military families that are living in the two military housing locations in La Mesa. Many of them have family members deployed during the holidays and this project allows the Chamber and the public to make the holiday season a little brighter for these military personnel that sacrifice for our country. This event is being called “Stuff the Jeep.” The Jeep was at Grossmont Center staged by the Guest Services Booth. On Saturday, October 28th all of the books that were donated were brought out to the Jeep and “stuffed” in the Jeep for this worthy cause. The Jeep was on loan from La Mesa’s own, Carl Burger Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM World and we are grateful for their support and participation. We are extremely grateful for our partner, Barnes & Noble and the store manager Teresa McClatchy, who gives of her time to be a part of this annual activity. We are also grateful to her staff member, Dylan Moon her social media specialist who helped us stage the books and pack and carry them to storage.
This year we are proud to have received 365 books and 22 toys that will be given to our military families on Wednesday, December 4th at our toy drive party being held at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse in Grossmont Center between 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. We are grateful to our Presenting Sponsor of that party EDCO, who is joined by supporting sponsors First Command Financial Services and State Farm Insurance – Kristie Facto Agency.
