On Tuesday, July 19th members of the La Mesa Chamber and community welcomed Italian Restaurant, Cucina Basilico to our Chamber with a ribbon cutting and a fun-filled evening mixer. Members were treated to delicious homemade specialties from the husband and wife team of Francesca and Danilo Brusati, the owners.
Danilo is the Chef and shared the gift of making pasta to guests, right in the front area of the restaurant. What other mixer can you attend and watch the Chef making a dinner entree? Nowhere but in La Mesa at Cucina Basilico! The Cucina Basilico team were warm and welcoming as they served such items as: freshly cut fruit, Farfalle – Bow-tie pasta with marinara sauce, fresh rolls, mozzarella with cherry tomatoes, fresh tiramisu and more! A selection of wines were poured from the evening wine sponsors – The Riviera Supper Club and The Regal Bar. Certificates of recognition were presented by representatives Ben Cunningham, assisted by Justin Kizy from Senator Joel Anderson’s office. Tori Floyd from Supervisor Dianne Jacob’s office joined in the celebration with a certificate as well. Assemblywoman Shirley Weber also sent a certificate that was presented by La Mesa Chamber President and CEO, Mary England. Mary also presented a plaque from the La Mesa Chamber welcoming Francesca and Danilo and their entire staff to the La Mesa business community and chamber. It was a night of celebration, great food, good conversation and fun! A raffle, which has become a La Mesa tradition, was held and the lucky winner was David Shaw.
This was a perfect La Mesa evening with a warm glow of smiles and people enjoying each other. If Dean Martin would have been there, he would have burst into song with his popular – “That’s Amore!” The evening was captured by our resident photographer, Sandy Small. Our Miss La Mesa, Susanna Wiggins and Miss La Mesa Teen, Jennifer Barillas joined us and added to the evening festivities.
